HMS Engineering Design Students Present Final Solutions
Seventh graders in the Hampton Middle School Engineering Design course presented ideas to a panel of judges on Monday, Dec. 9 to revamp the microwave cart area of the HMS Cafeteria.
Four groups brainstormed ideas that will make the space more functional and practical. Among the ideas included by the groups:
- A seating area for teachers who are on cafeteria monitoring duty;
- Establishing a movie day using the TV, or showing announcements on the TV during the lunch period;
- Purchasing two new microwaves to replace two older ones and re-using two existing microwaves to create a space with four microwaves available for student use during the lunch periods;
- Purchasing a Keurig for students to use and locating it on the cart.
Judges were permitted to ask questions following each group's presentation. The panel of judges consisted of teachers, PTO members and the HAEE.
