Today is Day A
It's EASY! Get the HMS Announcements delivered right to your e-mail.
The MS Boys Basketball team has a game at home on Friday, December 11 at 3:30 pm versus North Allegheny.
During this time of remote learning, please make sure students are following the green Remote Learning Bell Schedule. Attendance will first be taken in Homeroom. In the new schedule, students are expected to log on at 8 am. Students are also expected to log into each class period and attendance will be taken in every class period.
The HMS Library Staff created the attached helpful document titled Helpful Technology Tips While Learning From Home. Please refer to this flyer if a student device is not working or if Zoom is very spotty. You can follow the steps to resolve technology issues. This flyer includes a link to submit requests for help from our Technology Department.
HMS 2021 Yearbooks are now available at the lowest price of the year! Visit www.yearbookforever.com to reserve your student's spring, 2021 yearbook at a limited-time price of just $25. Prices increase throughout the year, so now is the BEST time to reserve your book.
Homework Club and Math Lab are still available during remote learning! Both will be offered each day after school via Zoom. There will be 3-4 teachers present to support students and organize them into breakout rooms in Zoom.
In addition to the class periods and tutorial, we will have a Live Help session each morning. If your child is working from home and has a question or needs help, please encourage him or her to join the live help session via Zoom in the morning:
- 7:30 am - 8:00 am (before the school day)
Please view the link below to learn more about Morning Live Help and to access the zoom link. These are also available on all of our teachers’ Google Classrooms.
The History Bowl (virtual competition and tour from the Heinz History Center) is tomorrow, December 9, from 1-2pm.
Our HMS enrichment teachers, Ms. Cohen and Dr. Survinski, will continue to offer enrichment during remote learning. They have created a Google Site for our students to navigate so that they may learn more about the opportunities. Any student interested in virtual enrichment can join the HMS Enrichment Google Classroom with the class code: hi4syem. New activities are posted each month in all subject areas for any student who would like a challenge beyond their regular education curricula. These activities are self-paced and designed to be completed with materials students may find at home.
There are upcoming events for students; however, some of them have a limited number of participant spots. If more students sign up than there are open spots, we will draw names to determine who gets to attend. These activities do take place during the school day, so students may have to miss a class period in order to attend. They will be responsible for any work that they have missed and will be expected to make up that work. Ms. Cohen and Dr. Survinski will contact students through their Hampton email accounts concerning their participation. Upcoming events include:
One Degree of Change (Pittsburgh Zoo virtual presentation)- December 18 from 1:15-2pm, education specialists from the Pittsburgh Zoom will discuss how each person can make an impact on our environmental ecosystems. Students will learn about the causes and effects of climate change, including how it impacts animals throughout the world. We’ll discuss Zoo conservation programs and present live animals. Throughout the program, students will be challenged to think about their own actions, and how individual actions can create positive environmental change. Students can sign up with this Google Form (only students should complete this form, please, with their school Google account): https://forms.gle/2xL2dg1TEDYaW65c6
