We are excited to begin implementation of Phase 3 of the District’s One-to-One Initiative by issuing iPads to students in grade 2, laptops to students in grades 4 and 7, and chromebooks to students in grade 12 for the 2019-2020 school year. Students in grades 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11 will keep their devices which were previously issued and should bring their charged devices to school on the first day. Students entering grade 4 should turn in their iPad and charger from 3rd grade on the first day as they will soon be receiving a laptop in 4th grade.
Please note that devices for ALL students in grades 2-12 will need to be registered through our insurance site, where parents and guardians will need to either accept or decline insurance for their student’s device for the upcoming year.
The window for registration and insurance decisions is August 1, 2019 until August 15, 2019 .
Sometime between August 1 and August 15, please click on THIS LINK and follow the step-by-step instructions in order to (1) register your child’s device, and (2) either accept or decline insurance. If you need technical assistance with any of these items, please contact Karen Wheeler at (412) 492-6321 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
You will need to know your child’s student ID number to complete the student registration process. If you have your email address setup for notifications in the District’s Infinite Campus system, you should have received this information via a form letter Thursday evening (8-1).
Additional information and details are also available HERE; however, if you have any general questions, please feel free to contact your building principal.
Students in grade 2 will be issued an iPad in September; however, the iPads will remain at school for the students’ use until the second semester in order to allow time for the teachers to work with the students on proper iPad care and use. In January, second grade students will begin to take their iPads home with them.
Please review our important Board Policies related to technology:

Board Policy #249 - Bullying (including Cyberbullying),

Students in grades 2, 4, 7, and 12 will receive a hands-on orientation at school for their individual device during the school days following the distribution.
Thank you for your prompt attention to device registration and insurance decisions in the August 1 to August 15 window. We hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to welcoming your child back to school in a few weeks!
