# Algebra II Courses

**INTEGRATED ALGEBRA II**

Full Year

Grades 11, 12

Integrated Algebra II is primarily for juniors and is designed to expand and connect the concepts and skills learned in Algebra I and Geometry. Concepts and real-world situations that demonstrate the link between the two disciplines will be presented. Students will learn additional skills and applications of probability and algebra needed to understand and solve problems. The course contains skills and concepts needed to understand applications of mathematics that will prepare students for a rigorous Algebra II course. The TI-83+ graphing calculator is required.

Criteria for Recommendation: 8^{th} grade PSSA score of Basic or Below Basic, student must be a Junior or Senior, Algebra I or equivalent - final grade of 60% or higher, AND Geometry - TE or Traditional, or Geometry - final grade of 60% or higher.

**INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA II - TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED**

Full Year

Grades 10, 11, 12

This course follows the sequence of Algebra I Part 1-TE, Algebra I Part 2-TE and Intermediate Geometry-TE. It provides a course in Algebra II for those students who would normally have difficulty with the standard course. Although this course is less rigorous than Algebra II, it will still be a challenging academic offering for the student at this level. At the end of the course, the student will understand the introductory college mathematics courses. Computers will be used in addition to the text and class work as a tutor for the students to learn at their individual levels of achievement. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ graphing calculator is strongly recommended.

**INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA II - TRADITIONAL**

Full Year

Grades 10, 11, 12

Intermediate Algebra - Traditional follows the sequence of Algebra I Part 1 - Traditional, Algebra I Part 2 - Traditional, and Intermediate Geometry - Traditional. Intermediate Algebra II -Traditional provides a comprehensive review of Algebra I and introduces the more important aspects of Algebra II. Although this course is less rigorous than Algebra II, it will be a challenging academic offering for the student at this level. At the end of the course, the student will understand the basic concepts needed for the SAT and PSSA exams and the various introductory college mathematics courses. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ graphing calculator is required.

**ALGEBRA II/TRIGONOMETRY - TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED**

Full Year

Grades 11, 12

This course follows the sequence of Algebra I Part 1-TE, Algebra I Part 2-TE, Intermediate Geometry-TE and Intermediate Algebra II-TE. It could also follow Intermediate Algebra II - Traditional. Students in this course begin with a comprehensive review of Intermediate Algebra II and then progress through a study of higher order polynomial functions, continuous and discontinuous functions, relations, inverses, periodic functions, trigonometric relationships and their applications, and conic sections. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ graphing calculator is required.

**ALGEBRA II**

Full Year

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Algebra II includes a brief review of the basic concepts learned in Algebra I. Students in this course will study the real and complex number systems; polynomial equations and inequalities and their graphs; rational expressions, functions and equations; radicals, radical functions and rational exponents; and the conic sections. They will acquire ease in applying algebraic concepts and skills and appreciate need for precision of language. This will be obtained through many applications to the real world and accessible technology. A TI-83+ or TI-84+ graphing calculator is required.
