Drawing and Painting II is designed as a sequential study of art from Drawing and Painting I or Art and Design.  Students will begin a more personal involvement in their work.  They will acquire drawing and painting skills in a variety of media.  In-class studio time is crucial to students' technique development.  Creative problem solving and critiques are emphasized throughout the course.  Color is studied in the use of acrylic and water color paint.  Famous artists and periods of art history are discussed and incorporated into this course.

HONORS DRAWING AND PAINTING
Full Year
Grades 11, 12

Honors Drawing and Painting is designed for the motivated junior or senior artist.  Students will be required to keep an art journal of ideas, interests, drawings and designs.  They will build on techniques learned in the development of their own style through a guided structure of creative problem-solving.  Figure drawing becomes a routine practice throughout the course.  All members of the class will work and think as artists on individual and group work.  Painting techniques will include acrylics on canvas. This course is not intended just for art majors; however, it is an excellent opportunity to build a portfolio for college admission.
