Accomplishments and Distinctions

  • HTSD is one of only 29 Pennsylvania School Districts recognized by Standard and Poor's Evaluation Services as an outperformer for several consecutive years. An outperforming school district is one that reports significantly higher percentages of students who are proficient or above average on state reading and math tests than other school districts with similar demographics.
  • Since 2007, the Pittsburgh Business Times has ranked Hampton High School among the best-performing schools in Western Pennsylvania, based on PSSA test score data. The Hampton Township School District was ranked fourth overall in the state. There are 500 public school districts in the state.
  • Newsweek Magazine ranked Hampton High School among the top of the nation's schools in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. 
  • HTSD has the highest graduation rate of all public schools in Allegheny County.
  • Hampton High School, Wyland Elementary and Central Elementary have achieved United States Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Schools of Distinction status.
  • Hampton Township School District (HTSD# earned the highest rating in Allegheny County in the Standard and Poor's Return on Spending Index. The return on spending index calculates the ratio of school district spending with student proficiency in math and reading.
  • The District consistently earns a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. HTSD is one of only 14 #of 500# public school districts in the state to have received this award.
  • All five Hampton Schools were designated as Keystone Healthy Zone #KHZ) schools. The KHZ program supports healthy eating and physical activity to improve health and academic performance for children in Pennsylvania.
  • About 95% of Hampton graduates continue onto higher education.
  • Hampton High School students' College Board scores are consistently above state and national averages.
  • Hampton High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the PA Department of Public Education.
  • HTSD was twice recognized as a Model School District by the Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education, for implementing best practices for inclusiveness in the regular education classroom.
  • About 400 AP exams are annually taken by Hampton High School students, with 75% to 92% earning a score of 3 or higher, qualifying for college credit.
  • Hampton Schools are consistently named as a model of What Parents Want by SchoolMatch.
  • All five District Principals accepted awards from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in recognition that the schools achieved Adequate Yearly Progress for up to four consecutive years.
