A Tradition of Excellence

A Tradition of Excellence, the District slogan, characterizes the positive, progressive, caring attitude focused on benefitting students academically as well as personally.

  • About 83% of graduates participate in one or more extra-curricular activity during their high school careers. Numerous clubs abound in all the schools reflecting the various interests and enthusiasms of both students and teachers. About one-third of students participate on athletic teams including WPIAL, intramural, and inter-scholastic sports.
  • Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Hampton boasts an overall faculty/student ratio of 1:25 five schools - three elementary, a middle school (grades 6 through 8) and a high school.
  • Academics are exemplary with about 95% of all graduates continuing their education and average College Board scores consistently above national averages.
  • Computer education and applications are an integral part of the total academic program. Primary students are taught in self-contained classes while intermediate elementary students profit from departmentalization. Hampton Middle School uses team teaching to extend basic skill development and to encourage an exploratory approach to learning. Hampton High School's comprehensive and diversified curriculum includes college prep, general studies and business programs, 16 Advanced Placement and 26 Honors courses, and 17 vocational/technical courses. Students need a minimum of 25 credits for graduation, including at least 40 hours of community service.
  • Gifted students, as well as others, have opportunities for enrichment and acceleration. Those with disabilities are included in the least restrictive environment, and participate in programs designed to address their particular challenges. Math and reading specialists work directly with students and staff in the elementary and middle schools.
  • Instructional support professionals, a psychologist, nurses and Student Assistance Teams evaluate student needs and offer support for those who are at risk. These teams are composed of administrators, counselors, teachers, and other student services personnel.
