Academic

  • The state Department of Education recognized Hampton as one of only three Allegheny County School Districts that was recognized for making adequate yearly progress (AYP) for all six years the Keystone Achievement Awards were given. The report was released on November 20, 2009.
  • Forbes Magazine online named Hampton Schools as among the 25 Best Schools for Your Housing Buck based on the combination of a high-quality education, affordable housing, and low unemployment rate compared to the national average.
  • Hampton High School was selected as one of America’s Best High Schools for 2011 by Newsweek Magazine. We were ranked 335 out of the top 500.
  • HTSD was one of 47 school districts in the state to be identified as an Outperformer by Standard and Poor's Evaluation Services. An outperforming school district is one that reports significantly higher percentages of students who are proficient or above average on state reading and math tests than other school districts with similar demographics.
  • Each year since 2000, when the Pittsburgh Business Times began ranking Pennsylvania public schools, Hampton Township School District has placed among the top five districts in Western Pennsylvania and among the top ten in the state.  The rankings are based on three years of PSSA test score data. There are 501 public school districts in Pennsylvania.
  • Family Circle magazine has recognized Hampton Township as one of the “10 Best Towns for Families in 2010,” in part due to its “stellar schools.”
  • HTSD earned national recognition by being the first in the USA to be designated by the Academic Development Institute as Effective School Communities based on the success of Hampton Elementary Schools' Community Councils.
  • Hampton High School students' College Board scores are consistently above national averages.
  • Hampton High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Education.
  • HTSD was twice recognized as a Model School District by the Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education, for implementing best practices for inclusiveness in the regular education classroom.
  • About 300 AP exams are annually taken by Hampton High School students, with about 90 percent earning a score of 3 or higher, qualifying for college credit.
  • U.S. News and World Report has ranked Hampton High School as among its “most connected classrooms” for 2011. Hampton ranks number 81 on the list of 301 school districts nationwide. The rankings are based on each school’s online infrastructures and the degree of Internet access available to students, educators and parents.
