A Voluntary Student Accident Insurance policy covers students during school hours and/or school sponsored events (i.e. gym class, athletic events, playground accidents, field trips, etc.). The Voluntary Student Accident Insurance provides students with coverage for medical expenses incurred from accidental injuries including but not limited to, broken bones, lacerations and concussions. It does not cover expenses incurred from illnesses including but not limited to, flu, measles, meningitis.
Student Accident Insurance serves to reduce or eliminate any out-of-pocket expense not covered by the individuals primary coverage including copays, deductibles and coinsurance. The policy will pay on a primary basis in the absence of other collectable coverage. With the out-of-pocket expenses rising for insured individuals, the benefits of Student Accident Insurance have become more important than ever.
HTSD offers parents/guardians the option of purchasing Voluntary Student Accident Insurance every year. The policy for 2019-2020 is through Bollinger Specialty Group, and their link to their website and specifically HTSD policy portal may be found on the Parent Resource Page of each school building under the Student Accident Insurance link. Families may visit Bollinger site and complete an application online or may download the application and mail it directly to Bollinger. Copies of the brochure also are available from building secretaries at our five schools.
