Hampton High School Student Council is hosting the first annual Talbot Thon on Friday, March 29 at the High School. Community kickoff time is 3:30 p.m., followed by a lock-in for all students participating in the event until midnight.
The Talbot Thon replaces the previous MiniTHON, which the High School hosted during the last four years. The switch in names also comes with a switch in the benefactor. In previous years, proceeds from THON were given to the Four Diamonds movement to fund cancer research. This year, and in years moving forward, the High School will work directly with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation to ensure proceeds from the Talbot Thon are kept local.
This year's goal is $40,000. The community can support the Talbot Thon by visiting this website to make a donation. Donations can be made via the website until April 5. Members of the community also will have the opportunity to stop by the event during the kickoff portion of the evening. Raffle tickets for a number of unique gift baskets donated by local businesses and other organizations will be available for purchase. Food trucks will be located in the parking area near the building's main entrance. A portion of the proceeds from the food truck sales will be donated to the Talbot Thon.
