For the fourth year in a row, Hampton High School will join hundreds of schools and the Four Diamonds movement to help conquer childhood cancer by hosting Mini-THON 2018 from 4:30 to midnight on Friday, April 6 at the High School. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for check in. Games for students will be available during the hour-long check-in period prior to the official kick off in the auditorium.
The Student Council once again is hosting the event. Student Council representatives said the goal for this year is to raise more than last year’s final tally. The estimated total raised this year will be announced at the end of the evening.
The public is invited to stop by the event between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to help support the cause by purchasing raffle tickets for a number of unique gift baskets donated by local businesses and other organizations. Food trucks will be located in the parking area near the building's main entrance. A portion of the proceeds from the food truck sales will be donated to the Mini-THON. Food truck vendors are:
1. Southside BBQ
3. Chop Shop Salad Shop
4. Las Chicas
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Four Diamonds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer by assisting children who are treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research. Four Diamonds provides direct support to approximately 600 children with cancer annually - 100 who are newly diagnosed and 500 who are continuing their fight against cancer. Four Diamonds supports a diverse platform of childhood cancer research at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, and seeks improved treatments and cures to benefit those around the world.
