Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly (Jordan Schafer, grade 7), a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber (Rosha Kazemi, grade 8), all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”
"Newsies Jr. is a great, high-energy show," said Director Mr. Greg Shumaker. "Audiences will love dancing and the powerful story told by Hampton Middle School."
About 100 students in grades 6-8 comprise the cast, crew, and orchestra pit.

Called “the funniest farce ever written" — "Noises Off," a 1982 play by the English playwright Michael Frayn, presents a manic menagerie of actors rehearsing a flop called "Nothing's On." Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and the occasional plate of sardines all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
The cast includes Jessica Hickman, Andrew Kaehly, Leah McConnell, Daniel Morgan, Leah Morris, Liam Shields, Kai Suyama, Linnea Taube, and Kiley Vande Geest. Student directors Aja Lynn and Audrey Alling will bring the show to life.
