Now Accepting Nominations for Hampton Heroes

Zachary D'Amico

Nominations now are open for the 2021 Hampton Heroes program, which will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 1 PM at Fridley Field.

The program will be moved indoors to the Hampton Middle School auditorium in the event of inclement weather.

If you are a veteran and you live in Hampton, work in Hampton, are a graduate of Hampton High School, or you are a relative of a current HTSD student or staff member, we urge you to complete the Hampton Heroes form

Since 2001, local veterans who have completed and returned the form are invited to be honored guests at a program at one of our schools around Veterans Day.  More than 200 men and women have been inducted as Hampton Heroes and recognized at the Veterans Day program.

From the information on the forms, mini biographies are collected and reproduced in a booklet which each inductee receives.  The stories and photos of veterans (both combat and non-combat) shared through the booklet, teach Hampton students valuable lessons about service, duty, and sacrifice.

Nominations are due by Oct. 22, 2021.

Additionally, this year’s guest speaker will be Eric McElvenny, who served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He was wounded during combat action by an IED. Recovering from the amputation, Eric began with an ironman and now competes in endurance racing events across the country. Now, Eric travels across the country to speak, inspire and motivate others to grow from challenges.
