Digital Transformation

We are excited to begin implementation of Phase I of the District’s Technology Initiative by issuing devices to students in grades 2, 4, 7 and 9. Please read the following information carefully as it gives detailed instructions on upcoming dates and procedures to obtain your child’s iPad or HP laptop.

If you are a parent or guardian of a student in grade 2:  Students in grade 2 will be issued an iPad in October; however, the iPads will remain at school for the students’ use until the second semester.  In January, second grade students will begin to take their iPads home with them.  By Monday, October 23, we need for parents and guardians of students in grade 2 to complete the following:

  • Student Device User Agreement.  Please click on this link, print and read the form, and have both the parent/guardian and student sign the form.  Please send this signed form back to school with your second grade student by Monday, October 23.
  • Device Registration and Insurance Program.  All devices must be registered through this link; parents and guardians can then decide whether to accept or decline insurance and can access FAQs here for additional information regarding this decision.  Please make sure that you have completed the registration and insurance process by noon on Monday, October 23.

If you are a parent or guardian of a student in grades 4, 7, or 9:  Students in grades 4, 7, and 9 will be issued an HP laptop in October according to the schedule listed below.  Please mark your calendars and plan to pick up your device anytime during the 7-8:30 window:

  • Poff Elementary School (Grade 4):  Monday, October 23 at Poff, anytime 7-8:30 pm
  • Wyland Elementary School (Grade 4):  Tuesday, October 24 at Wyland, anytime 7-8:30 pm
  • Central Elementary School (Grade 4):  Wednesday, October 25 at Central, anytime 7-8:30 pm
  • Hampton Middle School (Grade 7):  Thursday, Oct. 26 at HMS Auditorium, anytime 7-8:30 pm
  • Hampton High School (Grade 9): Monday, October 30 at HHS Auditorium, anytime 7-8:30 pm

In order to receive your child’s HP laptop on the nights above, we need you to complete the following:

  • Student Device User Agreement.  Please click on this link, print and read the form, and have both the parent/guardian and student sign the form.  Then bring this signed form to the Device Distribution Night.  This is the only signed form that you will need to bring to Device Distribution Night.
  • Device Registration and Insurance Program.  All devices must be registered through this link; parents and guardians can then decide whether to accept or decline insurance and can access FAQs here for additional information regarding this decision.  Please make sure that you have completed the registration and insurance process by noon on Monday, October 23.

Please note that parents and guardians must complete a Student Device User Agreement and the Device Registration and Insurance Program for each child they have in grades 2, 4, 7, and 9.

If you are a parent/guardian and have students in grades 4 AND 7, or 7 AND 9, or 4 AND 9 or all three grade levels:  In order to help accommodate parent and guardian’s busy schedules, if you have children at multiple grade levels, you are welcome to come to your scheduled Device Distribution Nights at each school or you are welcome to come to the Device Distribution Night scheduled for your oldest child and pick up all of the devices for your family at one time.  For example, if you have a 7th grader and a 9th grader, you are welcome to come to the Device Distribution Night at the High School on Monday, October 30 anytime from 7-8:30 pm and pick up both devices.  Please follow the instructions above for grades 4, 7, and 9 regarding the Student Device User Agreement and the Device Registration and Insurance Program.  Please remember that we need a separate Student Device User Agreement form and the Device Registration and Insurance Program completed for each child.

After the Device Distribution Night, we request that parents and guardians of students in grades 4, 7, and 9 take the devices home, charge the devices, and send them back to school with their student fully charged the next day.  Students will receive a hands-on orientation at school for their individual device during the school days following the distribution.
