Congratulations to Jordan Bamrick, Kelley Bittner, Katie Dukovich, Jess Garver, and Emily Wilson on your Bronze Medal at the National Scholastic Championship.
After placing first in The Pittsburgh Scholastic Sprints in May, the whole team traveled to Cincinatti, OH, to compete in the Mid-West Championships. High schools from all over the midwest came to compete for a bid to row at Nationals. The Women’s Varsity 4 brought home the Gold Medal for the second year in a row at Midwest Championships, giving them a bid to compete in The National Scholastic Event that was held on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey, May 25 & 26. The competition was tough as there were entries from 16 states and Canada.
The Women’s Varsity placed second in their heat, advancing them to the semifinals the following day. It was a tight race, but their boat placed first in the semifinal heat, qualifying for the Final Race on Saturday afternoon. The race was close from start to finish, but the team worked incredibly hard and came in third, only 1.3 seconds behind the second place boat.
